The Town supports many agencies that provides services to residents. Here is a list of those resources with a brief description and a link to their website, where available.
Access Agency -- takes a comprehensive, holistic approach to examining the poverty-related challenges our customers and their families face, and with them develop customized individualized plans to help them over those challenges.
Community Kitchens of Northern Connecticut -- provides healthy and nutritious meals to all who come through our doors.
CT Council of Municipalities -- the state’s largest, nonpartisan organization of municipal leaders, representing towns and cities of all sizes from all corners of the state, with 168 member municipalities.
CT Council of Small Towns -- a member-driven organization committed to giving Connecticut's smaller communities a strong voice in the legislative process.
Day Kimball Healthcare -- a non-profit, integrated medical services provider comprised of Day Kimball Hospital, Day Kimball Medical Group, four healthcare centers in Danielson, Dayville, Plainfield, and Putnam, Day Kimball HomeMakers, Day Kimball HomeCare, and Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut.
Eastern CT Conservation District -- dedicated to helping towns and citizens of Eastern Connecticut with their conservation needs.
Interfaith Human Services -- an all volunteer human services organization dedicated to providing services and programs for people in need or in transition in Northeastern CT.
Last Green Valley -- the 35-town National Heritage Corridor in eastern Connecticut and south-central Massachusetts, and a member-supported, non-profit stewardship organization working for you in the National Heritage Corridor.
Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG) -- organized forum for the member towns to discuss, facilitate, and develop responses to issues of mutual concern.
Northeast CT Transit District -- the public transportation provider for northeastern Connecticut, available for all residents and visitors to our region.
Northeast District Department of Health -- a non-profit governmental organization that prevents illness, promotes wellness, and protects the health of residents in twelve towns in northeast Connecticut.
Northeast Early Childhood Council - The Northeast Early Childhood Council (NECC) is made up of the communities of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Killingly, Plainfield, Putnam, Sterling, & Thompson. We work together to ensure all children, birth through age eight, in our communities are healthy, safe, and successful learners. We bring together all key stakeholders who play a crucial role in the safety, mental & physical development, and education of our children.
Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut -- an organization that brings high quality, accessible and affordable professional performing arts to Northeast Connecticut and surrounding towns.
Putnam Cemetery Association
Quinebaug Valley Senior Citizens -- an advisory and coordinating agency, as well as a direct service provider with a focal point of concern for the needs of low income, elderly, and/or handicapped residents over the age of 55, in the 11 town area of Northeastern Connecticut.
Sexual Abuse Crisis Center of Eastern Connecticut -- a private, non-profit agency offering free and confidential, comprehensive services to victims of sexual assault and abuse. SACCEC is a member of the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence, the statewide coalition of sexual assault crisis agencies.
TEEG -- a dedicated non-profit human service organization that provides assistance and support to families in the communities of Northeast Connecticut.
TVCCA -- advocating for and meeting the needs of the region's economically and otherwise disadvantaged citizens.
United Services, Inc. -- a major provider of mental and behavioral health treatment, prevention, and education programs in the areas we serve, and also provide critical social services to those in their care.
