The Town Veteran's Advisory Committee is working together on the Hometown Hero Banner Project.
Requirements to have a banner:
- Joined the Service and has been a Resident of Putnam, Connecticut.
- Must still be Living
- Be a Current Resident of Putnam, Connecticut
- Be able to provide a Copy of your 0D214 or equivalent (Discharge from Service Records)
- May be limited at any time to particular conflict eras
We'd be more than honored to get a Banner of yours made to fly proudly in Putnam. Simply supply a service photo. This program allows that Banner to be flown for 2 years and then would be presented to you as a keepsake, as thanks regarding your Service.
The Cost of these Banners is $110 and is being taken care of by other Veterans of the Town. Should you feel the need to pay it forward, or to make a contribution towards future Banners, please contact the Committee Chair, Robert Challinor, at 860-942-6700.
In the future, we hope to refine the requirements, but with over 1000+ Veterans living in Putnam, the requirements have been set this way to try and honor all of the Veterans that are Seniors so they don't miss the opportunity to see their own Banner displayed to the Town of Putnam.
