Historic Mills are integrally woven within the physical fabric of Putnam’s Community.  Constructed from the beginning of Connecticut’s industrial revolution in the early nineteenth century until 1965, these Mills stand strong, ready for transformation of underutilized spaces, creating a sense of place and community living back in the Downtown area.

The 171 acre Putnam Industrial Park is home to regional leaders in the plastics and medical device industry, aerospace as well as other distribution and manufacturing industries.  Putnam has planned well for its economic future by offering the logistical amenities that are necessary for success such as municipal services including water, sewer, natural gas; easy access to the Interstate 395 corridor; one of the lowest tax rates in CT as well as offering growth opportunities and incentives in one of Connecticut’s Enterprise Zones.

In the true spirit of community, The Quinebaug Regional Technology Park (The Q) is a regional economic development initiative between the towns of Brooklyn, Pomfret, Putnam and Scotland and is strategically located in the Tri-State, including CT, MA and RI, The Q is a 267 - acre technology park in Putnam, CT  and conveniently accessed directly off I-395 at exit 45. Development is in progress with excavation efforts underway. The Town is looking to begin filling in the Q in the coming years.
