Founded in 1972, CVI has met the laser industry's damage threshold
requirements in the markets of laser manufacturing, material processing,
and research and development. Our name, CVI, is derived from the
Roman numberals for 106, long associated with lasers. Many of the
high-damage threshold coatings developed by CVI have been designed
for Nd:YAG lasers operating at 1.06µ and CO2 lasers operating
at 10.6µ. Now, CVI produces quality optics and coatings that
cover the spectrum from 185nm to 20µ, and we continue to push
this range to meet industry demands.
CVI Spectral Products gained notoriety when Bell Labs developed the first femtosecond
laser using CVI designed and manufactured optics. Since 1972, our
business has progressively become OEM dominated, and today CVI is
the world's largest independent manufacturer of optical components
for OEM laser-based semiconductor, electronic, and WDM manufacturers.
