The major responsibility of the Assessors
Office is to produce the Grand List, which is used in the
budget process to help establish the Town’s mill rate each
spring. The three parts of the Grand List are Real Estate,
Motor Vehicles and Personal Property. The three main functions
of the office are to discover, list and value all property.
The office maintains the Town’s tax maps and data about
all properties, including ownership, and size of all buildings.
It is also the office that processes property tax exemptions
for veterans, elderly, blind and disabled persons.
